Why Muse?
I wasn't always a professional medium/clairvoyant. In fact, it was always my dream to be a writer, and my official college education centered on journalism and creative writing. Long before I began consciously communicating with Spirit, I was fascinated by how my best writing seemed to be truly "inspired." I would lose myself in my writing; time ceased to exist when I was in the flow. I then would read over what I'd written and wonder where in the world it had all come from.
It was not until I began consciously communicating with spirits, however, that I realized that we are more or less co-creating with non-physical forces all the time. Indeed, Spirit has worked with mankind in creating many great works of art and technological innovations throughout history. I see an "artist" as someone who is particularly adept at shifting his or her consciousness above and beyond this plane in order to "channel" inspirations. I realized that the ability to get into a creative flow in creating any work of art is the same ability that allows one to channel anything from Spirit. Above all, this involves trust. It is trust that empowers an artist or writer to overcome fear of making a mistake or being "bad" in order to create. It is also trust that empowers a medium to overcome fear of being "wrong" in order to communicate what she perceives.
Muses are of course symbols of divine inspiration. In Greek mythology, they were believed to inspire great artists, poets and scientists. Of Muses, the ancient writer Hesiod wrote:
"They are all of one mind, their hearts are set upon song and their spirit is free from care. He is happy whom the Muses love. For though a man has sorrow and grief in his soul, yet when the servant of the Muses sings, at once he forgets his dark thoughts and remembers not his troubles. Such is the holy gift of the Muses to men."
Years ago I dedicated myself to doing the work of Spirit in the world, to being a "servant of Muses." My favorite Muse is Urania, the Greek Muse of astronomy, astrology, philosophy and Universal love. Her name means "heavenly." She is able to foretell the future, and to offer a spiritual or heavenly perspective to those she blesses with her help. Urania is the Muse depicted in the image below.
